Act like a Christian
Most of us have probably heard this said, that person either acts or does not act like a Christian.” What is that based on?
How can anyone Christian or not say what a Christian should act like? For one, that implies that Christ actually taught something we should live up to. More than that it really saying if what He taught was true then what He said about Himself was true. So, again I ask, how can we say what a Christian should act like? If you think that you have the right to judge if someone is living like a Christian or not are you not claiming to be Christ? By saying we know how a Christian should act is the same as saying we are like the Teacher (see Mathew 10:25) to see how the Teacher felt about it.
The funny thing about this statement is that it also implies that the person saying it does not have to act the same way. As if, the person who knows how everyone should act but they are different. However, we all know what is expected of us but we make excuses for why we act as we do. Humans are flawed even Christians. I do not say this to give an excuse for someone to mistreat others but that we can not be judge of someone else in this matter.
That is like saying that because someone does not look like us or sound like us they must be of a different race. However, I never thought of any man or woman as being of a different race since we are all human. From what I remember of my science classes a race a whole group. The only place where I heard of races within the human race was from the Nazis. We are all created equally, male and female plus the coloring of a person skin does not change that. A person is a person because they are a human and humans were created in image of God.
These two ideas sound totally different but in reality they are basically the same. We think we have the right to place what we call morals or ethics on someone else when we ourselves can not even keep them. This is nothing new for Christ spoke about it often and might be considered one main sin He came to show that were not living up to.
